My Story
My name is Lukas Humplik and I am a cyclist from Kettering, Northamptonshire, UK, racing for Beeston Cycling Club.
What began as a love of riding my bike quickly grew into a passion for racing. From my first local races at the age of six, I was hooked by the challenge of pushing myself, learning new skills and competing against other riders. As I developed through regional racing and into national competition, my ambition continued to grow.
At the age of fourteen, I achieved one of my biggest goals by becoming the British Under-14 National Circuit Champion, a milestone that reflected years of hard work, commitment and support from the people around me. While I am proud of what I have achieved so far, I see it as just one step in a much longer journey.
In 2025, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. While it changed some aspects of daily life, it has never changed my ambitions. Managing the condition alongside training and racing has taught me discipline, responsibility and resilience. It has helped me develop habits and a mindset that I believe make me a stronger athlete and a stronger person.
Cycling has taught me that success is not simply about talent. It comes from consistency, preparation and a willingness to keep learning. I am always looking for opportunities to improve, whether that means listening to my coach, learning from teammates, analysing my performances or taking lessons from both victories and setbacks.
While I am passionate about winning and achieving my goals, I believe success is about more than results. Cycling has taught me the importance of respect, teamwork and humility. I strive to represent my club, family and supporters in a way that makes them proud.
My goal is to continue progressing through the British Cycling pathway, gain experience at national and international level and ultimately, fulfil my dream of becoming a professional cyclist. Every race, training session and challenge is another step towards that ambition.

Training and Development
Building the Foundation
Success in cycling is not built on race day. It comes from the work done in the weeks, months and years beforehand. Every training session is an opportunity to improve, learn and take another step towards long-term goals.
Balancing School and Sport
Combining school with competitive cycling requires commitment and good organisation. Lukas trains four to six times each week around his school commitments, making the most of every opportunity to develop as an athlete while maintaining a healthy balance between sport, education and family life.
A Structured Approach
Lukas works closely with Raceline Coaching, following a structured training programme tailored to his long-term development. Combining endurance rides, interval sessions and race-specific work, every session has a clear purpose. Their support and expertise play a key role in helping Lukas continue to progress and compete at the highest level for his age.
Recovery Matters
Recovery is just as important as training. Alongside rest, nutrition and quality sleep, Lukas works closely with REGO Sports Therapy, attending regular sports massage sessions to support recovery, manage training load and stay in peak condition throughout the season. Their support plays an important role in helping him perform consistently and continue developing as an athlete.
Strength and Conditioning
Alongside cycling, Lukas completes regular strength and conditioning sessions to develop overall athleticism and build the strength needed to compete at a national level. These sessions help improve power, stability and resilience while supporting his long-term physical development.
Nutrition and Performance
Cycling places significant demands on the body, making good nutrition essential. Lukas focuses on fuelling properly before, during and after training and racing to support performance, recovery and overall health. Learning how to manage nutrition effectively is an important part of his development.
